Welcome to Neptune Theatre's 56th Season and to the first I have programmed as Neptune's 12th Artistic Director. I am so proud of the selection of theatre that we have planned for you and honoured to take on this new role.

It's a season of love.

Love is not always hearts and flowers. Love can be complicated. Love can be damaged, broken, and forbidden. I believe part of our work here at the theatre is to 'hold a mirror up to nature.'

The plays we have for you contain joy and music, laughter and song, heartache and pain, and many tears. Ultimately, I hope you will see these stories as a way of stepping away from the real world. Your time at Neptune is a time to unwind and to meet with friends; to share a live experience.

We have added a Summer Season of theatre to kick off the year - a kitchen party and the toe-tapping, exuberant song-and-dance marathon Five Guys Named Moe.

You won't want to miss the stage adaptation of the Oscar-winning Shakespeare In Love, the spectacular holiday pantomime Cinderella, thee new works from Canadian writers that will inthrall you, or the classic comedy Noises Off.

Then we have the exclusive Canadian premiere of the Broadway smash hit, the musical adaptation of The Color Purple. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and Academy Award-nominated feature film, this show leaves its mark on the soul. Don't miss your chance to be mesmerized when this joyous show comes to Neptune.

See you at the theatre.
