The Color Purple


The producers of Neptune’s production of The Color Purple are expanding the existing company of actors for this production.

The Color Purple Actors engaged in this contract will play characters who are African and African-American. In particular we encourage actors identifying as a part of the African Diaspora to submit themselves for these auditions. The roles being cast are:


Swing (m) covering Preacher, Buster, Grady, Adam

- Mezzo-Soprano; at least E3 to Ab5


Swing (f) covering Shug, Church Ladies 1/2/3, Squeak and Church soloists

- Baritone; at least Bb2 to Ab4 


Artists should be prepared as both soloist and in group harmony


These auditions were held in Toronto on Sunday, January 27, 2019 and submissions by video tape will continue be accepted until the parts are cast. Each artist is asked to provide a pop/rock/Gospel song in the style of the show. For an audition, artists are asked to send their head shot and resume to Video submissions may be sent to
