FAQ Regarding COVID-19

May 19 ,2020:  Update on  The Rocky Horror Show and The Argyle Street Kitchen Party

Dear Neptune Patron,

Our continued best wishes to you and your loved ones.

After careful deliberation, the staff and board of Neptune Theatre have decided to  postpone  our summer shows:  The Rocky Horror Show  and  The Argyle Street Kitchen Party .

We join a growing list of theatres that have made the difficult decision for the show not to go on. This is devastating for both our company and the community we serve – the artists, playwrights and skilled production workers, plus the restaurants, bars and other businesses that partner with Neptune. Nevertheless, we believe that postponing our summer shows is the right move in the interest of public health and safety. Theatre relies on communities gathering together to share an experience in person. It is this magical exchange that makes live theatre unique – and it is also this very exchange that necessitates today’s announcement.

We hope to include The Rocky Horror Show and The Argyle Street Kitchen Party in our future planning. If you have tickets for either of these shows and would like to use them for the new dates, please hold on to them. We encourage you to make sure your email address is on file - this will guarantee you receive advance notice before the new dates and ticket sales are open to the general public. All purchases for the original runs (Rocky Horror July, 14 2020 - August 30, 2020 and Kitchen Party August 4, 2020 - August 30, 2020) will be honored for the rescheduled dates.

If the new dates presented do not work for you, at that time we will ask you to consider the following:

  1. As a not-for-profit theatre, we ask for your support during this time of crisis and that you consider donating the value of your ticket(s) back to the theatre for a charitable donation receipt.

  2. We will issue a gift certificate for the same value as your tickets, which will not expire and will be valid on any upcoming Neptune show or Theatre School class.

To review your options, please contact the Box Office at  boxoffice@neptunetheatre. com .

With the increased volume of inquiries coming through at this time, we ask our patrons to be patient and understanding as we respond to all inquiries and requests. A representative will get back to you as soon as possible.

Our thoughts remain with all those who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic as we continue to explore new and interesting ways in which we can stay connected in this difficult time. While our 2020 season will not proceed as planned, please know that we are monitoring the situation carefully and we will be ready to adapt to new guidelines and change course as needed, and as often as necessary, until we can safely open our doors once again.

Regarding our summer camps and classes, Neptune Theatre School is consulting with public health officials and community resources to determine how best to bring you theatre training this summer. Announcements will be made in early June.

Please monitor our website and social media channels for further updates. We will be in touch with the new performance dates soon.

We thank you for your continued support of Neptune Theatre.

From all of us at Neptune Theatre, take care and stay safe.

As of March 13, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Neptune Theatre has closed the theatre until further notice.

This was an extremely difficult but necessary decision to make. The health and well-being of our patrons, artists, and staff is of paramount importance. Following the direction from the Premier and provincial public health officials, this was the right decision to keep our community safe and healthy. Our loyal and supportive audience expects nothing less of us. Everyone at Neptune will be doing their part to help reduce the unprecedented impact of COVID-19. Please know we appreciate your continued support and patience throughout this process.

We will continue to monitor the advice of Nova Scotia public health officials as we plan for the upcoming 2020/2021 season.

These decisions no doubt have raised questions for you. To help, we have drafted the following FAQ’s.

With the increased volume of inquiries coming through at this time, we ask our patrons to be patient and understanding as we respond to all inquiries and requests. A representative will get back to you as soon as possible.

I have tickets for Billy Elliot the Musical. Should I retain my tickets for a later date? Or will I be issued a credit? How will this work?

We would like to thank you for your continued support during this unprecedented  time. We are working on determining the new dates for Billy Elliot .

Neptune is working to reschedule Billy Elliot in the upcoming season.  If you currently have tickets for Billy Elliot and would like to use them for the new dates, please hold on to them and make sure you are on our email list. This will guarantee you receive advance notice before the new dates and ticket sales are open to the general public. All purchases for the original run (April 14 – June 7, 2020) will be honored for the rescheduled dates.

If the new dates presented do not work for you, at that time we will ask you to consider the following:

  1. As a not-for-profit theatre , we ask for your support during this time of crisis and that you consider donating the value of your ticket(s) back to the theatre for a charitable donation receipt.
  2. We will issue a gift certificate for the same value as your tickets, which will not expire and will be valid on any upcoming Neptune show.

Please email the box office at boxoffice@neptunetheatre.com to make arrangements.

I have not had a reply from my email/voicemail yet.

Please understand that there are thousands of patrons contacting the box office, and we are currently working with reduced staff and reduced hours . I have unused vouchers for the 2019/2020 season, what do I do with them.

Unfortunately, we cannot honour vouchers after June 7, 2020. HOWEVER, we are happy to turn them into a gift certificate , and the funds can go towards future Neptune Theatre products , including: 2020/2021 subscriptions, dinner packages, tickets to any of our upcoming shows and Theatre School camps and classes.

If you would like to use your vouchers for Billy Elliot, we recommend you book into the original run. This way you will be notified first of the new dates, and still get your tickets at a great price.

Should I subscribe for next season?

YES! Neptune Theatre is proud that most of our earned revenue comes from ticket sales and that we are less reliant on government funding. However, because of the theatre’s dependence on ticket sales, we are more vulnerable at this time. With bills to pay and no shows to generate the revenue to pay those bills, we are quickly depleting the money needed to get live theatre back on our stages. Your subscription purchase will help us withstand this difficult time.

Is the renewal deadline still May 31?

For those who have not renewed yet, we understand your concern about investing in a subscription during these uncertain times. With this in mind we have removed the deadline for renewal for our loyal subscribers. Your seats will remain reserved until we can give you greater clarity on when Neptune will reopen and what will be included in the 2020-2021 Season. This will give you time to confer with the people you regularly attend the theatre with and to pose any questions you may have to box office. We thank you for your understanding and continued support during this time"

When renewing, you can send us your completed form via email to the box office at boxoffice@neptunetheatre.com , or by completing our online renewal form at neptunetheatre.com/renew .

We are still receiving and checking the mail so you can also mail your renewal form to:

I have a Dinner Package I was saving for Billy Elliot, what should I do with it?

How can we support Neptune at this time?

Donations can be made at neptunetheatre.com/donate .

We are asking our incredible patrons with tickets to a recently cancelled show, to consider donating the value of those tickets to Neptune, or converting them into a gift certificate. By doing so, you are helping Neptune support artists and cultural expression; explore online opportunities to deliver programming and remain connected to our communities.  Your support ensures Neptune can continue to do what it does best: delighting Nova Scotians and Atlantic Canadians with magical theatre experiences.

Are you accepting clothing or prop donations?

Unfortunately, we don’t have the capacity to process donations of clothing and props at this time.

Theatre School Updates

Summer Camps

In keeping with updates from Nova Scotia public health officials, we are assessing all of our programs and how to facilitate them going forward, including our popular summer camps.

We are currently working with public health officials and consulting with community groups to ensure that we bring you the best possible programs in the safest and most accessible way. We want to thank you for your patience as we work through this process.

Cancellations and postponements will be updated on our website and social media channels; participants will also be informed directly by email. We have not yet released our summer camp plans, but hope to do so by the first week of June. This includes information about Prep, YPCo and Improv Conservatory Programs.

If you would like to give us your feedback on how you would like to see our training moving forward, you can fill out our survey (Click Here)

For any specific questions or concerns, please email us at school@neptunetheatre.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Spring Cancellations

Unfortunately, we had to cancel our March Break and Spring Classes. All student registrants were notified about the status of their account. If you have not corresponded with us, please email school@neptunetheatre.com and we will help you as soon as possible. Here the options for your registration:

  1. Gift Certificate - we can turn your current payment into a gift certificate to be used toward classes, camps, or theatre tickets at a later date. These gift certificates do not expire. This gift certificate will be applied to your Neptune account, and can be used at any time.

  1. Summer Camps - our weekly summer camps are currently scheduled to run. We are actively working on a plan that will outline how we will offer our summer programs. By moving a tuition payment to summer, we will hold your place until we can sort out the remaining balance for summer registration.

  1. Donation - Neptune Theatre is a not-for-profit organization. If you would like to donate your registration back to the theatre school, we are able to provide you with a charitable donation tax receipt for the full or partial amount of your registration.

  1. Refund - we understand this may be a tough time for parents. If you need a refund, we are able to provide this at your request. Thank you for your patience and understanding at this time, please let us know which of the above options works best for you. We look forward to having our students back in class soon.
