Community & Accessibility

Here at Neptune, we believe that the magic of live theatre should be available for everyone. We are pleased to be able to offer lower-priced options for tickets, made available through our partners, for programs such as Bell Aliant Pay What You Can and Sun Life Share the Stage. We also provide wheelchair accessible seating, sensory-friendly performances, and ASL-interpreted performances.

Neptune Theatre actively works with community partners to help make the theatre more accessible. In January 2019, thanks to the generous support of our partners, we opened our doors and welcomed students from the Halifax Regional Centre for Education to a free student matinée.

American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreted Performances

Throughout the season Neptune Theatre offers ASL-interpreted performance for members of the deaf community. Performances are held in Fountain Hall where good sightlines ensure patrons don't miss any of the action.

Please note:

  • When booking tickets (, those interested should identify themselves as members of the deaf community to ensure seating in the section where they can see the interpreters.
  • If no one has requested tickets in the ASL section 48 hours prior to the performance, the interpreters are canceled.

Sensory-Friendly Performances

Throughout the season, Neptune Theatre offers relaxed performances, which are designed to welcome audience members who would benefit from a more relaxed environment, including (but not limited to) those with sensory sensitivities, learning differences, autism spectrum disorder, and first-time theatregoers. Minor production changes are made to reduce startling effects and there is a relaxed attitude towards audience noise and movement. We invite all patrons to come, be themselves and experience live theatre!

You can download our step-by-step guide about what to expect when coming to the theatre. Hard copies are also available for pick up at our box office.

Both Fountain Hall and Scotiabank Studio are fully accessible for wheelchair patrons. Please notify the staff of your needs at the Box Office when ordering your tickets. Sorry, wheelchair accessible seats are not available online at this time.
