Summer Camps - Week 7

August 17 - 21 (five day camp)

Camp for ages 4-12 will take place at the Shambhala School at 5450 Russell Street, Halifax.

Intensives for Teens 13-18 will take place at Neptune Theatre at 1593 Argyle Street, Halifax through the Scotiabank Stage Entrance.

Please note: one week before classes begin, you will receive an email reminder containing all the information you need to know for the first day of camp.

Drop-off and Pick-up schedule:

7-9 years 8:45am - 9:00am 3:30pm - 3:45pm
4-6 years 9:00am - 9:15am 12:15pm - 12:30pm


Please note: if you are dropping off or picking up students in multiple age groups, you should do drop-off at the latest time scheduled and pick-up at the earliest time scheduled. For example; if you have a child in a 7-9yr camp and a child in a 10-12yr camp, your drop-off time is between 8:45am-9:00am, and your pick-up time is between 3:30pm-3:45pm.

Presentation videos will be sent by email the Friday after your camp week ends.

For any teen camp auditions, please prepare the following:

1) a short monologue (1-2 minutes) ideally from a play.

2) a thirty second blurb telling us who you are and what you love about performing and what you hope to get out of the program. Is there a program or aspect of a program that interests you most.

*please be sure to label the clip with your name and the program you are auditioning for.

4-6yrs Choose your own Adventure


(half day camps)

Should you take the trail of gum drops down the wooded path or the venture down the crystal cave to a sparkling wonderment? It’s up to you! Work together to create a story like none other. With twists and turns, give the audience a choice, let them see where their story goes! Create your own characters, art and strange pathways to an adventure like no other.

Encouraging creative exploration, all 4-6yrs camps contain elements of drama, improv, movement, storytelling, and music

4-6yrs Animal Shenanigans


(half day camps)

The animals are out and about! Flap your wings like a seagull, prowl like a leopard or slither like a serpent. In this camp we will be practicing moving our bodies in fun and creative ways. Learn about different animal habitats, stories about your favourite creatures, and make wild crafts. It’ll be a paw’some time.

7-9yrs (Drama) There’s a Mystery A - Foot!


Are you a top notch detective with an eye for the unusual? Join us in creating our own mystery full of crazy twists and turns. Let’s realise what, where and whodunit! With plenty of games, arts and crafts and theatre fun this camp will be full of brain-twisting excitement!

7-9yrs (Musical) Grand Voyager


Let’s set sail on an epic musical adventure. Hoist the ankers and set a course for a theatre extravaganza. Learn about the power of grand musical journeys and dance your boots off to some up-beat tunes.

10-12yrs (Drama) Improv and Comedy


Do you like to come up with stories on the spot? Are you constantly  inventing new characters in wacky situations? If you answered “yes, and…” then this is the camp for you! Play lots of fun improv games and learn how it’s evolved into a theatre sport. Build your confidence as you take chances and improve on your comedy skills. Challenge yourself as you move on to the next level of creativity.

10-12yrs (Musical) Broadway Callback


Using songs from a variety of hit Broadway shows students will act, sing, and dance their way through this one week musical theatre camp. With challenging choreography and melodic harmonies. Students will bring their performance skills to the next level. Suggested for anyone hoping to join the Youth Performance Company at Neptune. (Note: all singing will be digital)

13-18yrs (Level 1) Empowered Performer 102


(10am - 4pm)

Acting is more than memorizing lines and hitting your mark. In this week of workshops we will take you through exercises that will increase your skills as a performer. We will give you tools to increase your critical thinking and gain the knowledge and self awareness to bring your performance to the next level. A mix of fun and technical training, this week will empower you to become the performer you always wanted to be.

All levels welcome.

13-18yrs (Level 3) Showbiz Success 301


(10am - 4pm)

Resumes, finances, budgeting, marketing, social media, professionalism, warm ups, training, training, training. These are just some of the areas you will need to focus on in order to be successful in showbiz. This industry is ever changing and the only way to move forward is to move with it! This will be equal parts info sessions and brainstorms and collaborations. Watch out world - here we come!
