Now entering its 38th year of touring, The Neptune Touring Company has performed to over 400,000 young Nova Scotians since its inception. For many, the tour is their first exposure to live theatre.
By visiting small communities throughout the Maritimes and performing to students directly at their schools, the Young Company Tour promotes theatre to a wider (and younger) audience, thereby creating and fostering an interest in the performing arts.
For grades P-6
There are big changes in Ruby’s life: she has moved to a new city, left her favourite forest behind and started at a new school. Fortunately, her new friend Ella shares her passion for books, fantasy and unravelling mysteries. Ruby’s mother is not feeling well and won’t talk about it; Ruby only knows because she has been spying on her. The two girls hatch a plan that may get them into trouble, but they must uncover the truth. Friendship, family, adventures and challenges; there is something for everyone in the warm hearted play.
For grades 6-12
Alyssa and Jamie are best friends. But then Becky comes along. Some miscommunications combined with social media posts turns into a whirlwind cyber-disaster. The thought provoking play FallOUT, focuses on three “friends” and the effects social media has on their relationships. This Canadian play helps educate students on issues of cyber-bullying and encourages them to join the conversation on mental health awareness. Students will recognize themselves in the characters and their actions and a talk back at the end allows a safe space to share their thoughts and reactions.
