Weekend Classes

At the Neptune Theatre School we pride ourselves on process based learning, with programs focused on building skills rather than simply “putting on a show”. Learning from qualified instructors, (who also happen to be professional actors and leaders in Halifax’s artistic community), students will obtain the best theatre training in the city.

Neptune Theatre School is a safe learning environment, with focus on creativity and growth for each individual student. Our Weekend Classes cater to ages 18 months to 18years. With an array of classes in Drama, Musical Theatre and Improv, there is something for everyone!

We believe in cultivating opportunities for our students at Neptune Theatre School, encouraging those who attend our Weekend Classes to later go on to audition for our YPCo Boot Camps, YPCo Productions, and Prep Program.

This year we're doing things a little different!

Weekend Classes will be broken into two sessions instead of three.

SESSION 1: Our first session will run for 6 weeks in the fall, and will focus on SKILLS & CONFIDENCE. We will develop the foundational skills students need to do theatre, which can be applied to every-day life. There will be no final performance for this session. Register now!

SESSION 2: Our second session will run for 10 weeks over the winter and spring, and will focus on CREATION & PERFORMANCE. Students will build off of their foundational skills to create and rehearse a performance. This presentation will be open for families and friends to attend on the final day of class. Registration coming soon!

Please note: Students are not required to complete Session 1 in order to register for Session 2. Students enrolled in Session 2 should ideally have a foundational set of skills in theatre.

Neptune Theatre is located on sacred land that has been the site of human activity since time immemorial. We are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq, and we acknowledge them as the past, present, and future caretakers of this land.

As artists, we are grateful to work and build community here. As stewards of culture, we are in the process of learning more about how our company can improve our relations with Indigenous People and uphold the values of collaboration and inclusivity in all that we do.
