Theatre Teens (13 - 18 years)


Spring classes  are open for registration! Classes will run between Saturday March 30th until May 11th (5-6 weeks). All classes occur on Saturdays from 8:45am-5:30pm, with courses in drama, musical theatre, improv, filmmaking, and music theory. Sign in is at the Scotiabank Stage entrance of Neptune Theatre on Argyle Street.

Some classes start on March 30th, while others begin on April 6th. Please make note of the start date for the class you wish to take, and be aware there will be no classes on April 20th.

 

13-18yrs (Theory) Music Exploration

Saturdays beginning April 6th, from 10am - 11am

Do you love music but don't know how to read it? Wish you had the knowledge to write your own basic tunes? Love singing harmonies but want tools to be stronger at it? This playful, accessible class will help you start your journey to being a true musician. Learn about scales, chords, rhythms, and basic sight reading tools. No experience required.

13-18yrs (Drama) Collective Creation

Saturdays  beginning March 30th,  from 3:30pm - 5:30pm

Students will focus on different types of movement, voice and acting exercises, allow us to create our own unique piece of devised theatre. This is a chance to bring your unique voice to the the table and to work with others as a theatre creator. Take your ability to work as actor and as a strong company member to the next level.

13-18 (Improv) Formats & Collaboration

Saturdays  beginning March 30th,  from 3:30pm - 5:30pm

It is time to take our improv and look at different formats and ways to work with others to create the best scenes possible. How can we build off each other? What are the benefits to listening in a scene? Exploring the idea of longform, and creating stories through improv, this course will but the “pro” in your improv.  This will require focus, collaboration and fun!

13-18yrs (Musical) My Songs & Stories

Saturdays  beginning March 30th,  from 1:15pm - 3:15pm

How do songs speak to you? What lyrics tell your personal story? How can you tell a musical story like no one else can? Students will look at songs and break down both the melodic and lyrical story. There are clues in every musical theatre piece and working together we can create a very special performance. Working collaboratively we will share our unique voice in Musical Theatre.

13-18yrs (Film) Intro to Filmmaking

Saturdays  beginning March 30th,  from 12pm - 3pm

This course is series of filmmaking workshops where youth have the opportunity to create short films and videos through different themes and genres each week. We will be focusing on acting for film and television as well as expanding movie making skills through hands on learning. The final class will culminate in a screening of all the movies for your parents.


Please note : Classes will go off sale at 5pm the day before classes start. Please complete your booking prior to that time.

  • Students 14 years and older must add 15% HST.
  • Students should bring their own snacks and lunches. Neptune Theatre School is NUT & SHELLFISH FREE.
  • Students who have a birthday within two months of a class's start date may sign up for that class (i.e. if your child is 6, but will turn 7 within two months of a 7-9 class starting, they may be signed up for the older class.)
  • Neptune Theatre is the sole owner of the information collected here and on our website. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others.
  • Neptune Theatre Foundation cannot be held responsible for accidents or injuries incurred in classes, or on its premises. Students/parents are financially responsible for any physical damage they/their children do to the building.
  • All classes and camps are subject to a $35 non refundable fee per enrollment.
  • Some classes have a minimum registration and if that number is not met the class will not be offered. You will be notified of any canceled classes.
