Villa Diodati - Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein Pre-Show Experience
YPCO
Join Lord Byron, Percey Shelley, and the rest of their Gothic Horror colleagues at Villa Diodati, an exciting preshow experience to YPCo’s Production of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
Arrive through Neptune Theatre’s Barrington Street entrance and be guided through the halls of Neptune by the characters that were there the night Mary Shelley began penning the novella, Frankenstein. As you arrive at the VIlla’s Grand Hall, you will join the writers at the bar on their rainy vacation where they entertained themselves by reading fantastical stories and devised their own haunting tales.
To experience the pre-show fully, arrive between 6-6:40PM.
An eighteen-year-old girl, Mary Shelley, dreams up a monster whose tragic story will capture the imaginations of generations to come.
A young scientist by the name of Frankenstein breathes life into a gruesome body. Banished into an indifferent world, Frankenstein's creature desperately seeks out his true identity, but the agony of rejection and a broken promise push him into darkness. Dangerous and vengeful, the creature threatens to obliterate Frankenstein and everyone he loves, in a ferocious and bloodthirsty hunt for his maker.
By Mary Shelly Adapted by Rona Munro
An amateur production by arrangement with Nick Hern Books
