Message from the Director of Education

Last season, Neptune Theatre School was able to nearly double capacity with new students of all ages and sold out productions.

We worked hard to train our staff to aid in their own development as instructors as well as focusing on diversity and inclusion. We will continue with these initiatives into 2020-21 with an added focus on environmental awareness and sustainability, We will work to make sure our space, supplies, merchandise, and props are refurbished, re-used, and recycled throughout our pre-professional training Prep program, YPCo camps, March Break, PD Day, and summer camps, seasonal classes for kids, and all of our adult training opportunities. We will endeavor to achieve this all while continuing to give each student leading theatre arts training, allowing them to be the performer they dream of.

We have an exciting line-up of shows, all allowing us to explore the environment, transformation, and finding our voice. YPCo will present (scenes from) Metamorphoses by Mary Zimmerman in October 2020, and Disney's The Little Mermaid in February 2021. The Neptune TourCo. will present Seeds of Change by Lojo Simon with music by Ian Leroy, and a new play for youth being developed by the Theatre School called Climb Itwhich will be presented in schools across Nova Scotia in the Spring of 2021.

Overall, this will be an exciting year to build on the wonderful programs we currently have while allowing space for change, growth, and the strengthening of voices of the next generation of theatre artists.
