About the shows
Come From Away chronicles the real-life experiences of the people of Gander, Newfoundland, and the almost 7000 airline passengers who were forced to land there when US air space was closed on September 11, 2001.
Twelve actors tell the story of both the Islanders and the Plane People, revealing the fear and uncertainty that came with the terrorist attacks – as well as the profound generosity and compassion of strangers.

Anne of Green Gables - At the turn of the 20th century–in Prince Edward Island–siblings Matthew and Marilla want to adopt a boy to help on their farm. When they mistakenly end up with a hot tempered girl, surprises abound. The confidence and pluck of “Anne with an ‘E’” breaks down walls and brings her adopted community of Avonlea to life. With its timeless themes of belonging, resilience, and the power of imagination, this cherished Canadian musical continues to captivate audiences of all ages.

Come From Away
Claude (he/him), also plays Derm, Brenda’s Brother, Eddie and others
The gregarious and well-liked Mayor of Gander, Newfoundland, Claude loves his work, the townspeople and his daily traditions, but he's never had to deal with a crisis of this magnitude before.
Age: 40 to 60
Vocal type: Gruff, natural sounding Baritone with a strong high G.
Bonnie (she/her), also plays Martha and others
A no-nonsense mother of three, Bonnie is the head of the Gander area SPCA. When she discovers animals are trapped on the planes, she stops at nothing to ensure their safety - but in frustration, she often lashes out at those around her.
Age: 30 to 40
Vocal type: Mezzo with belt up to B.
Beulah (she/her), also plays Delores, Customs Officer and others
The head of the Gander Legion, with a firefighter son, who walks Hannah to her church and prays with her.
Age: 40 to 60

Oz (he/him), also plays Joey, Customs Officer, Mr. Michaels, Terry, Matty, Rabbi, Head Cardiologist and others
The quirky constable in the two-person Gander police force. When the town's population suddenly doubles, Oz helps out in unexpected ways.

Vocal type: Strong contemporary Tenor up to G.
Doug (he/him), also plays Nick, Male Townsperson and others
An Air Traffic Controller, married to Bonnie, who tries to help his wife and the animals.
Age: 30 to 40
Vocal type: Warm, natural Baritone or Baritenor with an easy E and strong pop sensibility.
Janice (she/her), also plays Flight Attendant, Britney, Party Girl and others
An eager new local TV reporter, Janice is thrown into the deep end on her first day. Initially naïve about the world, Janice must face the pain and confusion around her.
Age: 20 to 30
Vocal type: Contemporary Soprano with strong pop belt and mix up to E.
Beverly (she/her), also plays Annette and others
The first female captain for American Airlines Pilot, Beverly Bass has always loved flying, when her world suddenly changes.
Age: 50 to 60
Vocal type: Strong mezzo with an easy mixed or belted C#.
Diane (she/her), also plays Crystal, Brenda and others
A traditional divorcee from Texas, who is terrified that her son may have been flying at the time of the attacks. When she finds out that he's safe, she's given a new lease on life and discovers a wilder more carefree side of herself.
Age: 50 to 60
Vocal type: Warm, natural contemporary Soprano with strong mix up to D.
Kevin T (he/him), also plays Garth and others
The head of an environmental energy company in Los Angeles, Kevin was on vacation with his boyfriend (and secretary, also named Kevin), when they are stranded in Gander. Inspired by the town's generosity, Kevin creates the Pay It Forward Foundation.
Age: 30 to 50
Vocal type: Strong contemporary Tenor up to G.
Kevin J (he/him), also plays Ali, Dwight and others
Kevin's boyfriend and secretary. Sarcastic and unhappy, he wants to leave as soon as possible.
Age: 30 to 50
Vocal type: Tenor or Baritenor.
Bob (he/him), also plays Muhumuza, Captain Bristol and others
A hardened New Yorker, Bob is suspicious of where he's landed, fearing that it's World War 3, that someone is going to shoot him and steal his wallet - but instead, he ends up losing his New York jadedness.
Age: 20 to 40
Vocal type: Baritone.
Hannah (she/her), also plays Margie, Mickey, Party Girl and others
The mother of a firefighter in Manhattan, Hannah waits for news about her son and is comforted by Beulah.
Age: 40 to 60
Vocal type: Contemporary Soprano with strong pop belt and mix up to E.

Anne of Green Gables
Marilla Cuthbert (she/her)
Late 50s; stern, moral, and no-nonsense spinster. She lives with Matthew, her unmarried brother. She has a wry sense of humor and is eventually affectionate toward Anne.
Matthew Cuthbert (he/him)
The warm-hearted and affectionate brother of Marilla. Shy and quiet, but quickly brought to life by Anne's constant devotion. Gives way to Marilla's wishes around the house and finds a kindred spirit in Anne.
Rachel Lynde (she/her)
Marilla's friend and busybody neighbor. Warns the Cuthberts against taking in an orphan, but is eventually won over. Gossips and over-exaggerates. Makes fun of Anne's physical shortcomings when she has some of her own.
Miss Stacey (she/her)
Schoolteacher; radiates enthusiasm and rampant desire for learning. She is a role model and mentor for Anne.
Mrs. Barry also plays Mrs. Blewett (she/her)
Diana's mother. Worries about her daughter's associations. Fussy nature gives way to an open heart when Anne saves her youngest daughter.
Mr. Phillips (he/him)
The schoolmaster. He is a kind man, but insists on respect and good behavior from his students and sometimes must be accordingly harsh with them.

Audition Requirements:
Those selected to audition will be asked to prepare material provided. The sides/songs will be sent to those auditioning five days before the audition date.
We will only accept and view self tape applications for these shows by invitation. Those auditioning by tape will be sent sides and song requirements with five days’ notice and can upload their tapes to the Neptune casting portal in ONE file.
Those auditioning in person may be required to attend a dance call in the afternoon of September 2 in Charlottetown, September 5 in Halifax, and the afternoon of September 8 or morning of September 9 in Toronto.
Dance call material will be sent to those selected but not attending in person with a 24 hour turnaround, to keep the timeline as fair as possible. Tapes, again, will be uploaded to your profile.

Neptune Theatre’s and the Confederation Centre’s audition, rehearsal, and performance spaces are all physically accessible via ramps and elevators.
