RBC Chrysalis Project

Passionate about making theatre? Looking for the next step to a professional career as a theatre artist? The RBC Chrysalis Project might just be the opportunity for you!

At Neptune Theatre we believe that mentorship and opportunity are vitally important in the arts, and that it is part of our role to pave the way for the creators of tomorrow. Initiated in 2018, the RBC Chrysalis Project is a paid training program which provides emerging theatre artists with hands-on experience and exposure to the working environment on professional theatre productions. RBC Chrysalis participants are selected from a pool of applicants and assigned to two productions in Neptune’s season, where they work side-by-side with and are mentored by seasoned professionals in their chosen field.

Neptune Theatre's RBC Chrysalis Project is made possible through the RBC Future Launch program and is open to applicants under 30 years of age. The RBC Future Launch program was created to help youth of tomorrow gain the skills they need to prosper by helping youth gain new skills, grow their network, gain work experience and support their mental well-being.

As per our ethno-cultural mandate, Neptune Theatre seeks to promote equity, inclusion and access by amplifying voices that have been historically marginalized or underrepresented, and we factor this into every decision we make. We encourage submissions from artists of all genders, ethnicities, abilities and identities, and will give priority consideration to those who self-identify as IBPOC, LGBTQ2S+, d/Deaf, living with disabilities, and/or facing other systemic challenges in our industry.

The RBC Chrysalis Project offers:

  • Introduction into a fast-paced professional environment with ample opportunity for creative input,
  • Hands-on involvement in the practical tasks of mounting a large-scale theatre production,
  • Networking opportunities, knowledge sharing, and more!
