We are accepting submissions from those outside of Halifax who wish to audition via self-tape.
About the show
When a tornado sweeps young Dorothy Gale over the rainbow, she lands in the magical land of Oz. Joined by a Scarecrow, a Tin Man, and a Cowardly Lion - Dorothy must follow the Yellow Brick Road to find the Wizard of Oz who can send her back home to Kansas. On the way she must avoid the Wicked Witch of the West, and while discovering that in the end, there really is no place like home.

DOROTHY GALE Can play 16-18yrs (Vocal Range: G3-C5 (opt. E5) Young and optimistic with a streak of boldness, outspoken and headstrong. Dearly loves her family, friends and dog, Toto.
Lives on a farm in Kansas with her Aunt Em & Uncle Henry, and has never been anywhere else but dreams of traveling. Loyal to her friends and along the way discovers how brave she can

AUNT EM/GLINDA 35-55yrs (Vocal Range: G3-C5) Aunt Em is a typical, hard-working farmer’s wife who is firm & no-nonsense but also warm and caring. Glinda, The Good Witch of the North who is the mother figure for Munchkins and Dorothy whom she guides through Oz; playful, joyful wise and graceful. *This Role will require flying
UNCLE HENRY/EMERALD CITY GUARD 35-55yrs (Vocal Range: Bb2-Eb4) Uncle Henry is an adoring uncle to Dorothy, hard working and witty. Emerald City Guard, boisterous and ultimately welcoming and very comical
HUNK, A FARMHAND/THE SCARECROW , 20-40 yrs(Vocal Range: Bb2-F#4 (opt. Ab4)) Clumsy farmhand on the family’s Kansas farm; lacks self confidence but is selfless and smarter than he knows.
HICKORY, A FARMHAND/THE TINMAN 20-40yrs (Vocal Range: Bb2-G4) Kind, sweet and nurturing farmhand. Believes he needs a heart to love but discovers love comes from a deeper place than he knows.
ZEKE, A FARMHAND/THE COWARDLY LION 20 - 40yrs (Vocal Range: Bb2-F4) Farmhand who lacks courage; Acts tough, but his fearful self comes out in any scary situation. Learns along the way that he has more bravery then he could imagine especially when it comes to protecting his friends.
ENSEMBLE - A variety of characters that we meet in the land of Oz, including Trees, Crows, Emerald City Citizens, Monkeys and Munchkins *Puppet experience an asset. Ensemble members will also have understudy tracks which may involve flying.
PLEASE NOTE: The roles of PROFESSOR CHESTER MARVEL/THE WIZARD OF OZ and MISS GULCH/THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST are currently on offer.
Audition Requirements:
Those selected to audition will be asked to prepare material provided. The sides/songs will be sent to those auditioning five days before the audition date.
Those auditioning in person may be required to attend a dance call in the afternoon of May 18 or the morning of May 19. You may be asked to demonstrate any special skills and tricks you have, including but not limited to acrobatics and lifts. These skills are an asset, but are not required.
Dance call material will be sent to those selected but not attending in person with a 24 hour turnaround, to keep the timeline as fair as possible. Tapes, again, will be uploaded to your profile.

Neptune Theatre’s audition, rehearsal, and performance spaces are all physically accessible via ramps and elevators.We will only accept and view self tape applications for these shows by invitation. Those auditioning by tape will be sent sides and song requirements with five days’ notice and can upload their tapes to the Neptune casting portal in ONE file.
