Neptune Theatre presents Richard O’Brien’s
A playful and delicious sexcapade
The lives of wholesome sweethearts Brad and Janet are changed forever when their car breaks down in front of the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. The lovers quickly lose their innocence as they are greeted by a motley crew of wild and wacky characters. This cult classic, smash-hit musical is draped in sass and backed with a tantalizing rock-and-roll score and outlandish dances that will have you shivering in antici…pation.
After Covid delayed the original planned production in, Neptune Theatre was suitably relieved to finally welcome The Rocky Horror Show to Fountain Hall, our MainStage, in 2022. The beloved cult-classic, smash hit musical was the first major production of the season, as we emerged from the pandemic, bringing audiences back to Neptune and giving them a reason to let loose.

“Checked out the "Rocky Horror Show" musical in May 2022 while visiting Halifax. Wow. Such a good performance. Very impressed! The venue was beautiful and well kept, great acoustics and sound, smart set design. We were blown away by the talent and production.”

Made famous by the film adaptation of the same name, this rock musical by Richard O’Brien has been tantalizing audiences with its sexy, sassy, and lush score for decades. Featuring an incredibly diverse cast of faces familiar to Neptune audiences (including Allistair MacDonald as Frank’n’Furter, Breton Lalama as Riff Raff) and many newcomers, this production delivered on its promise to be the most fun you can have in fishnets.
“After so many delays, and almost two years of uncertainty, we were thrilled with the reaction to Rocky Horror taking over Neptune,” says Artistic Director Jeremy Webb. “This show is more than just a musical - it’s an experience. You can dress up and come for the party, and I think that party is what we needed in 2022 and perhaps just as much now.” That was the reasoning behind our production. Much like the end of prohibition, we figured folks needed to blow off some steam.
It was incredibly gratifying to see patrons return time and time again during the run. This show has lost one of its cult status. Young people came for the first time and our subscribers returned to revisit the memories of their youth! The city really adopted the show, Halifax Pride supported the production and the LGBTQ community embraced the entire enterprise.

The lives of wholesome sweethearts Brad and Janet are changed forever when their car breaks down in front of the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. The lovers quickly lose their innocence as they are greeted by a glorious crew of wild and wondrous characters. As is tradition with this show – the programming possibilities are endless! Midnight, or late-night performance options for fans who are looking for the full-on, subversive and interactive experience!
Neptune’s production explored the darker and more pained aspects of what is often a camp romp. The sci-fi elements really popped and our kick-ass band rocked the foundations of Argyle Street for 8 weeks.
Rocky Horror, at its core, is about the freedom to allow ourselves, and others, to pursue happiness and connection, and we get to explore this all with a wink, some glitter, and a tongue planted firmly in cheek. Not necessarily your own cheek
This production does include mature content, partial nudity, sexually suggestive scenes, some simulated violence, and use of language some may find distressing, so parental discretion is strongly advised.
